ATM hardware Technician (Technical Watch Office)
The job has two aspects:
As our ATM hardware technician, you ensure air traffic safety on the one hand by maintaining, optimizing and installing the systems in the areas of end user interfaces (displays), radar & flight-plan processing systems, aeronautical information systems, networks (Cisco) and simulators.
On the other hand you also work in a team of technicians of other services in the Technical Watch Office. You will be working 4-week shifts in a 9-week cycle. You will monitor all Navigation & Surveillance/Air Traffic Management/Meteorology systems. You will perform a wide range of duties:
1. carrying out preventive maintenance of the systems:
- adjusting and maintaining the systems;
- providing specialized support at the request of the Multidomain technicians;
- verifying whether the systems are in line with the required standards (manufacturer, ICAO, Eurocontrol,…).
2. carrying out corrective maintenance of the systems:
- surveying the systems’ functioning based on monitoring data;
- contributing to the analysis and solution of functional problems of the systems in collaboration with the CNS/ATM/MET systems Support and the person in charge;
- repairing and adjusting the systems;
- providing a specialized support at the request of multidomain technicians;
- surveying the interoperability of the series of systems;
- verifying whether the systems are in line with the required standards (manufacturer, ICAO, Eurocontrol,…).
3. Participating in optimizing the existing systems and in installing new ones:
- submitting improvement proposals for existing systems;
- applying modifications to systems;
- participating in projects regarding new systems in collaboration with the CNS/ATM/MET systems Project Manager and within your own field of expertise;
- participating in the installation of new systems.
4. Monitoring all CNS/ATM/MET systems in the Technical Watch Office so as to guarantee their proper functioning:
- acting as a focal point for all connected customers and systems;
- supervising the equipment;
- detecting and identifying anomalies;
- co-ordinating the interventions for corrective maintenance depending on the detected anomalies and carrying out the interventions on the systems within your own area of expertise;
- following up on the actions undertaken and informing all parties involved of the systems’ status;
- maintaining a reliable database of the occurrences (trouble-ticketing, electronic logbook).
Candidate profile
- you hold a Bachelor’s/Graduate’s degree in electronics or IT;
- experience with Linux and IT networks is a strong asset;
- you have good knowledge of English in combination with Dutch or French;
- you have strong learning capabilities;
- you are prepared to take training courses;
- you have no problem with a flexible work schedule (e.g. watch service, working in shifts alternating with working in a daytime regime);
- you have a strong sense of responsibility and a keen eye for detail;
- you have an excellent problem-solving mentality and you can be counted on in high-stress situations;
- you are a team player with good social skills;
- you have a strong affinity for aviation.
