Wind Turbine Consultation Map

This is the latest version of the Wind Turbine Consultation Map. This map with its legend displays the criteria skeyes uses in a simplified manner using different zones:

  • Red zones: no-go zones within which no wind turbines are allowed because the impact on systems and operations would be too big;
  • Orange zones: zones within which detailed research is always necessary. Those studies can be carried out in-company and/or externally;
  • light blue clear zones: zones within which under certain conditions (e.g. depending on height, clustering, geographical characteristics,…) wind turbines can be established without any detailed research. Please note that building developers always have to submit a request for opinion (preliminary opinions with skeyes, official opinions through the DGLV/DGTA or the competent authority) also if the wind turbine is in that zone.

DISCLAIMER
A verification of the wind turbines’ establishment against this map and these criteria can never replace the preliminary or official opinion of skeyes. A request always has to be submitted by following the established procedure (via urba@skeyes.be, through DGLV/DGTA, the competent authority or through the Omgevingsloket).

The Wind Turbine Consultation Map is drawn up for wind turbines with a maximum tip height of 200 m. For larger turbines, as well as for wind farms as from 20 turbines (including turbines that have already been built and/or licensed) or as from 10 turbines depending on their geographical location, an ad hoc assessment will always be necessary.

In evaluating the possible impact of the wind turbine, its blades are always taken into account. If the blades enter a certain zone (orange, red, hatched,…), the complete wind turbine will then be analysed based on the entered zone. Wind turbines that already have been licensed or built, as well as requests for which a favourable preliminary opinion was delivered, are taken into account in the evaluation, because of the possible cumulative effect of a cluster of wind turbines.
